EMO Energy Solutions is installing a wind anemometer atop a four story historical building near downtown New Orleans
The purpose is to gather data for a potential small wind turbine in the area. This data will be the first real wind data near downtown N.O., and being on a location right along the banks of the Mississippi River, could provide valuable information for potential renewable energy sites there. EMO is an energy conservation and environmental consulting company with offices in Virginia and New Orleans and is heavily involved in the post-Katrina rebuilding effort, trying to make the reconstruction sustainable and energy efficient. This effort is part of a future LEEDTM rated development which is attempting to incorporate rooftop wind to provide clean on site renewable energy. EMO is providing full LEED consulting and energy simulation modeling for the project
